2024 - 2025 Dickinson PTO Committees

WORKROOM (COORDINATOR: Brenna Dawson)

This group is perfect for parents who are available during the weekday! You will be helping the teachers and admins with a variety of tasks in the teacher workroom and throughout the school.

TRUNK OR TREAT DECORATIONS/EVENT PLANNING (COORDINATOR: Kody Messer)

Trunk or Treat is an annual community event & fundraiser for Dickinson that is 100% organized by the PTO. We will need people to help with candy donations, signage, decorations, games, etc. This is a super fu committee with a lot of flexibility and a celebration at El V afterwards, woohoo!

TRUNK OR TREAT FUNDRAISING/SILENT AUCTION (COORDINATOR: Lauren Phillips)

Trunk or Treat is the biggest fundraiser of the year and the Silent Auction is the reason for that! This is a great project for people who need flexibility and can't commit to weekly volunteer hours. We mostly communicate by text and our job is to seek donations and group gifts from local businesses. No donation is too small.  This is a fun team effort and will work mid August thru October 18th.

CAMPUS BEAUTIFICATION (COORDINATOR: JoBeth Prochaska)

A great weekend volunteer opportunity! This group is responsible for updating the garden needs, signage, etc. Upcoming projects will be to revive the butterfly garden on the side of the school and get quotes for a shade area for the playground.

ROOM PARENT (COORDINATOR: Brenna Dawson)

A room parent is a great way to help your student's teacher and be the liaison between the teacher and the parents. Some of your responsibilities will include: coordinating a monthly team snack with other room parents from your grade, class birthday treat for your teacher, organizing holiday party help. Minimal time involved with this one.  Please submit volunteer form by Monday, August 26, 2024 in order to be considered for this opportunity.

WATCH D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students) (COORDINATOR: Jason Sulak)

Great for dads and grandparents to get involved. Does include giving up a weekday from 7am-3:15pm, but this year you will be able to really make a difference on campus with an active presence: carline, perimeter checks, lunchroom monitor, recess, classroom help, etc. An info meeting with take place in September so stay tuned

YEARBOOK (COORDINATORS: Candice O'Brien & McKinney Whetstone)

The PTO is responsible for Dickinson's annual yearbook. We have a chairman who puts It all together, but our biggest need is a team to help with pictures!

LIBRARY (COORDINATOR: Dickinson Librarian Ms. Bromonsky)

Volunteer to assist librarian with various tasks on Mondays and Fridays and with the Book Fair in the fall and spring. Please contact the librarian to coordinate volunteer needs.

INNOVATIVE LEARNING DAY VOLUNTEERS (COORDINATOR: Dickinson Librarian Ms. Bromonsky)

Lamar CISD Is implementing Innovative Learning Days for students and teachers this year!  Volunteers are needed to assist with the Library Rotation of Innovative Learning Day. Ms. Bromonsky needs one parent volunteer for each grade level to help monitor students while assisting with reading extension activities, book selection/checkout & STEM activities during the hour long rotation. The time commitment involved is at least a 3-day commitment per 9 week grading period.  See times below.  A training meeting will occur end of August.  Volunteering will begin the week of September 2, 2024. Signup for this opportunity HERE!
